A water-splashing carnival took place at the Yunnan ethnic village in central Yunnan’s Kunming city on April 10, kicking off provincial celebration of the annual Water-Splashing Festival.

Water splashing is not only an important festival for the Dai, De'ang, Bulang and Achang ethnic groups in Yunnan, but also a national cultural heritage in China. It fully displays Yunnan’s ethnic music, dance, food, costume and worship.

In the days to come, the 2024 Water-Splashing Festival will also be celebrated in the Yunnan places of Xishuangbanna, Dehong, Baoshan and others.
