Yunnan Lahu folks weave bamboo for centuries

Lahu bamboo weaving from Lancang county in Yunnan province traces its history back to approximately 850 to 1270 AD. In 2009, it was listed in the second batch of intangible cultural heritage protection directories in Yunnan province.

A seemingly ordinary piece of bamboo undergoes processes such as selection, cutting, splitting, and polishing to become thin bamboo strips. These strips are then woven by craftsmen into various bamboo products like lunch boxes, sieves, and bamboo tables.
