Italian tourists enjoy seeing Wa shrine in Pu'er

Italian tourists David and Tjasa were recently captivated by the Longmoye sacrificial site in Ximeng county, southwest Yunnan’s Pu'er city.

"Longmoye" is a term from the Wa language, where "Long" means forest and "moye" refers to buffalo heads. Thus, the term means a "holy forest where buffalo heads are hung."

As a site for the primitive religious sacrifices of the Wa people, this place is characterized by the hanging of over 3,000 buffalo skulls. It embodies the Wa people's animistic nature worship.
