Yuxi rolls out new China-Asia freight train to Bangkok

A China-Asia international freight train kicked off its maiden journey from in central Yunnan’s Yuxi city on January 26, marking a critical step for Yuxi’s integration into the Belt and Road Initiative.

Also on January 26, China’s railway system officially implemented a new train operation schedule. Under this adjustment, four China-Asia freight trains will be added to the China-Laos Railway, with the first train departing from Yanhe Station in Yuxi.

The inaugural train was loaded with 745 tons of cargo, including 285 tons of vegetables and 460 tons of steel. It will travel along the China-Laos Railway to Vientiane, Laos, with its final destination being Bangkok, Thailand.

As a national freight hub, Yuxi has gained momentum in logistics development in recent years. In 2025, Yanhe Station and Yuxi South Station handled 11.76 million tons of freight, representing a 22.25% increase year on year.
