The 2023 Modern Agricultural Technology Training Session for Myanmar started October 11 in Ruili city, west Yunnan’s Dehong autonomous prefecture.

The training session aims to carry forward agricultural cooperation between Yunnan and Myanmar, bolstering the Belt and Road construction and the China-Myanmar community of shared future. It is participated by 28 Myanmar officials, technicians and business persons.

The training will last for 7 days, when Chinese specialists will present their practices in growing coffee, citrus, rice, bananas and corn, as well as in preventing the crops from pests and diseases. The Myanmar participants will have face-to-face communication and on-site observation at tropical cash crops.

U Thaw Tar Aung, consul general of Myanmar in Kunming, said this training will help develop agriculture in Myanmar. With advanced technology, Myanmar agricultural enterprises will enhance their international competitiveness and create more opportunities for local employment.

Hu Qiang, vice president of Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, believes China and Myanmar are both at critical stages of development, and the training will further bilateral cooperation, contributing to exchanges and cooperation in South and Southeast Asia at large.

The training is sponsored by Yunnan People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Yunnan Folk Foundation for International Friendly Exchanges and Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
