“Wonderful Maldives, the Sunny Side of Life” Picture Exhibition kicks off in Lijiang, Yunnan

People in China and Maldives are embarking on a journey to celebrate friendship across mountains and seas. On October 12, the “Wonderful Maldives, the Sunny Side of Life” Picture Exhibition, which highlights the stunning landscape and vibrant culture of Maldives, kicked off on October 12 in the Old Town of Lijiang, Yunnan Province, China. The Old Town of Lijiang is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.

The photo exhibition is held at the conference and exhibition hall of the 5596 Cultural and Creative Space in the Old Town of Lijiang, a famous tourist attraction in Lijiang City. The event will last until October 18. It is part of “Friendship Across Mountains and Sea” Events celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Maldives, which were unveiled on October 12 in Malé, Maldives.

The exhibition brings together dozens of images showcasing crystal clear water, white sand beaches, palm trees, beautiful coral reefs, and the breathtaking underwater world of Maldives.

“Yunnan is a beautiful province. It has plateaus, lakes and mountains and canyons. It’s a pity that it’s not near the sea,” said Wang Jiaxin, a tourist from Nujiang Prefecture in Yunnan. She was very excited after watching the photo exhibition. She said that the exhibition made her yearn for the sea even more and that, if she ever had the chance, she must visit Maldives.

At the same time, “Magnificent Mountains and Rivers, Diverse Yunnan” Photo Exhibition, “Friendship Across Mountains and Sea” Video Promotion, and “Beautiful China, Colorful Yunnan” Culture Week are being held in Maldives.

During a long-distance interview with a reporter at one of the events in Malé, Yang Fang, a girl from Lijiang who works in Maldives, said that she was very happy that tourists from all over the world could get to know her hometown Yunnan through these events and that she hoped these events could strengthen the friendship and mutual understanding between China and Maldives. “I hope you guys would visit my hometown Yunnan. I also hope more Chinese tourists will come to Maldives. Maldives offers a totally different vacation experience,” said Yang Fang.
