The Kunming Marathon 2025 under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) took place in central Yunnan’s Kunming city on November 30, drawing a record high of 26,000 runners from over 20 countries and regions.

Ethiopian runner Asefa Boki Kebebe secured the title of men's full marathon in 2 hours, 8 minutes and 49 seconds. The third place of women's full marathon was claimed by Angela Jemesunde Tanui from Kenya, finishing the race in 2 hours, 33 minutes and 25 seconds.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the SCO Kunming Marathon. After obtaining the World Athletics Gold Label certification, the marathon has become China’s first Gold Label full marathon hosted by a high-land city.

The marathon was supervised by the SCO Secretariat and Yunnan Provincial Government. Certified by Chinese Athletics Association, it was organized by the Sports Bureau of Yunnan Province, Yunnan Foreign Affairs Office, and Kunming Municipal Government.

The SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev made a speech at the event. Ambassadors and representatives from 14 countries, including the SCO member states, observer states and dialogue partners, attended the starting ceremony.
