Sino-Cambodian Artists jointly interpret the "Water as Bond" to showcase the unwavering friendship between the two countries.

8月28日晚，中柬建交65周年文艺晚会在柬埔寨首都金边湄公河畔的钻石岛歌剧院隆重上演。中国云南省的艺术家与柬埔寨艺术同行联袂演绎两国“铁杆”友谊。

On the evening of August 28th, a cultural evening commemorating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia was grandly staged at the Diamond Island Opera House by the Mekong River in the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh. Artists from China's Yunnan Province joined forces with their Cambodian counterparts to showcase the enduring friendship between the two nations.

“同饮一江水，彼此情无限。”蜿蜒数千公里的澜沧江-湄公河，发源于中国青藏高原，穿越云南，一路向南流经柬埔寨。“山下小河淌水，清悠悠……”晚会第一章节，中国舞者伴着创作于澜沧江畔云南大理的民歌《小河淌水》翩翩起舞。舞毕，中柬歌手接续献上二重唱歌曲《共饮一江水》。

 "Sharing the same river water, boundless affection between us." The meandering Lancang-Mekong River, spanning thousands of kilometers, originates from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China, passes through Yunnan, and flows southward through Cambodia. The first chapter of the event began with Chinese dancers gracefully performing to the folk song "Flowing Water of the Small River" composed in Dali, Yunnan, alongside the lyrics "The little river flows, so clear and tranquil..." Following the dance, Chinese and Cambodian singers presented a duet titled "Drinking the Same River Water."

“当奔腾不息的河流翻过高山峡谷、跨越地域疆界、驰骋山川原野之间，河流两岸无不花繁树茂、千里麦浪金黄，那是根深枝繁中柬友谊之树，更是越开越盛的情谊之花。”晚会总导演钱学涛称，晚会第一章节以“共饮一江水”为题，“中柬绵延千载的邻里真挚情谊，如同澜沧江-湄公河奔流不息。”

 "As the ever-flowing river surges over high mountains and valleys, traverses geographical boundaries, and gallops between mountains and plains, both sides of the river are adorned with abundant flowers and lush trees, with golden waves of wheat stretching for miles. This is the tree of deep-rooted and flourishing friendship between China and Cambodia, and it blossoms into a more vibrant bond." Qian Xuetao, the chief director of the event, stated that the first chapter of the evening was titled "Drinking the Same River Water," highlighting the enduring and sincere friendship between China and Cambodia, much like the uninterrupted flow of the Lancang-Mekong River.

今年是中柬建交65周年。晚会为此翻开以“共筑一家亲”为题的新篇章，献上柬埔寨舞蹈《孔雀舞》以及中国京剧选段《梨花颂》、葫芦丝独奏《竹林深处》《只有一个高棉》、舞蹈《三声鼓响幸福来》等节目，传递出中柬建交以来秉持相互尊重、相互支持、平等互鉴、合作共赢、开放包容的相处之道，成为休戚与共、情比金坚的命运共同体。

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia. The event opens a new chapter with the theme "Building a Close Family Together," presenting performances such as the Cambodian dance "Peacock Dance," excerpts from Chinese Peking Opera "Ode to the Pear Blossom," solo performances on the hulusi flute with pieces like "Deep in the Bamboo Grove" and "There's Only One Khmer," and a dance titled "Three Beats of Drums Bring Happiness." These programs convey the spirit of mutual respect, support, equal exchange, collaborative win-win, openness, and inclusivity that have characterized the relationship between China and Cambodia since the establishment of diplomatic ties. This relationship has transformed into a shared destiny where both countries face joys and challenges together, creating an unbreakable bond.

“孔雀舞在柬埔寨有着特殊的地位，只有在最重要场合才会演出。”柬埔寨舞者桑尼塞说，孔雀象征着美丽和纯洁，“今天的晚会演出孔雀舞，表达柬中两国关系自建交以来，在友好互信、真诚合作中不断发展、不断升华。”

 "The Peacock Dance holds a special place in Cambodia, only performed during the most important occasions," says Cambodian dancer San Sisay. The peacock symbolizes beauty and purity. "Tonight's performance of the Peacock Dance expresses the continuous development and elevation of the friendly and cooperative relationship between Cambodia and China since the establishment of diplomatic ties, marked by mutual trust and sincere collaboration."

葫芦丝，取材天然葫芦，音色独特淳朴，是与柬埔寨高棉族习俗相似、文化相通的中国傣族的传统乐器。中国民乐演奏家谢军告诉记者，中国有句俗语叫做“远亲不如近邻”，这种“亲望亲好，邻望邻好”“好邻居金不换”的思维方式让中国人喜欢交朋友，乐于交朋友，用葫芦丝演奏《只有一个高棉》，是想向观众传递中柬是好邻居、是老朋友、更是“铁杆”兄弟。

The hulusi, crafted from natural gourds, produces a unique and rustic sound. This traditional Chinese instrument is similar in tone and culture to the traditional instrument of the Khmer people of Cambodia. Chinese traditional musician Xie Jun told reporters that there's a saying in China, "A distant relative is not as good as a close neighbor," highlighting the value of good neighboring relationships. Playing the hulusi to perform "There's Only One Khmer" is a way to convey the message that China and Cambodia are not just good neighbors and old friends, but also "ironclad" brothers.

今年也是中国提出“一带一路”倡议十周年。晚会第三章节主题为“共享一路行”，演出了中国歌舞《祝福》、舞蹈《海菜腔》《花腰快调》、柬埔寨舞蹈以及中柬男女歌手二重唱的《金色的诺言》等节目，述说着古老丝路从历史深处走进朝气蓬勃的今天。

This year also marks the tenth anniversary of China's proposal of the "Belt and Road" initiative. The theme of the third chapter of the event is "Sharing the Journey," featuring Chinese songs and dances such as "Blessing," dances like "Seaweed Tune" and "Floral Waist Quick Tune," Cambodian dances, and a duet by Chinese and Cambodian male and female singers titled "Golden Promise." These performances narrate the ancient Silk Road's journey from the depths of history into the vibrant and lively present.

柬埔寨观众利索让(音译)是一名中文翻译。他向记者介绍，“一带一路”倡议让柬埔寨有了高速公路、新港口和新机场，柬埔寨交通状况得到极大提升，中国企业在柬埔寨还参与电力、能源等领域合作，为当地民众提供了大量就业机会。

Lisuo Ran (phonetic transcription), a Cambodian audience, is a Chinese translator. He introduced to reporters, "The Belt and Road Initiative has brought high-speed highways, new ports, and new airports to Cambodia. The transportation situation in Cambodia has greatly improved. Chinese companies are also involved in cooperation in areas such as electricity and energy in Cambodia, providing a large number of job opportunities for local people."

柬埔寨华侨陈标今年到金边经商恰好十年。十年前，他和伙伴将中国视频拍摄制作技术带到金边创业，为当地政府、企业的互联网推广提供服务，“中柬贸易持续扩大，互联互通不断提升，增加了两国在互联网新媒体领域相互宣传推介的需求，也为两国青年带来更多创业机会。”

Chen Biao, a Cambodian overseas Chinese, has been doing business in Phnom Penh for exactly ten years this year. A decade ago, he and his partners brought Chinese video production technology to Phnom Penh to provide services for local government and business internet promotion. "Sino-Cambodian trade continues to expand, and interconnectivity continues to improve. This has increased the demand for mutual promotion and introduction in the field of new media on the internet, and has also brought more entrepreneurial opportunities for young people in both countries."

十年来，随着中柬共建“一带一路”合作项目的开展，两国经贸关系迈上新台阶。中国已是柬埔寨最大的外国直接投资来源国，且连续11年保持柬埔寨第一贸易伙伴。

Over the past decade, with the development of joint "Belt and Road" cooperation projects between China and Cambodia, the economic and trade relationship between the two countries has reached new heights. China has become Cambodia's largest source of foreign direct investment and has maintained its position as Cambodia's top trading partner for 11 consecutive years.

“国之交在于民相亲”，这场由中国驻柬埔寨大使馆、柬埔寨文化艺术部、中国云南省人民政府主办，云南省人民政府新闻办公室、云南省人民政府外事办公室承办的晚会，为2500多名观众呈现一场具有“中华传统文化韵味、云南民族特色风情、中柬文化艺术交融”特色的精彩表演，再次增进了两国文化交流和文明互鉴，加深了两国民众之间的联系和友谊。

"As the foundation of a nation lies in the friendship between its people," the evening event hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, and the Yunnan Provincial People's Government of China, organized by the Information Office and Foreign Affairs Office of the Yunnan Provincial People's Government, presented a captivating performance for over 2500 attendees. The event showcased a fusion of "Chinese traditional cultural charm, Yunnan's ethnic characteristics, and the integration of Chinese-Cambodian cultural and artistic elements." This event once again enhanced cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the two countries, deepening the connection and friendship between the two people.
