The Thailand-Yunnan Cooperation Working Group is not only a cooperation mechanism between Thailand and Yunnan, but also a significant mechanism for the cooperation between Thailand and China, said Mr. Chatchai Viriyavejakul, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs, Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Thai products bound for Europe via Chinese rails

Chatchai said this at the 7th meeting of China Yunnan-Thailand Cooperation Working Group that was held in Kunming on September 6, adding the working group is one of the earliest cooperative mechanism between Thailand and Yunnan, and it now involves cross-border trade, investment and tourism, as well as interconnection via roads and waterways.

Thai Consulate-General in Kunming hosts a Muay Thai event in Yunnan on June 26.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative and the 21st birthday of the working group mechanism. "Thailand has close relations with Yunnan, China, with frequent people-to-people exchanges." Chatchai noted that Yunnan province is Thailand's gateway to China, and Thailand is also a window for Yunnan and even China to access Southeast Asia.
