Amur cork trees in Shuifu of Yunnan enjoy a harvest

The amur cork tree plantations in Shuifu city of Yunnan province are enjoy a bountiful harvest. Shuifu city, located at the confluence of the Jinsha river and Hengjiang river, offers highly suitable natural conditions for the growth of medicinal herbs. Thus, this also provides an excellent environment for amur cork tree cultivation.

The dried bark of amur cork tree reveals golden color and it is a great herb for inner heat and dampness clearing. So, it is of excellent medicinal value. The local people are now working hard in planting amur cork trees. The cultivation area is of about 933 hectare currently.

“I’m already 65 years old,” said local resident Huang Zixiu happily, “and by peeling the bark here earns me at least 100 yuan a day."

Nearly 10 major processors in Shuifu engaged in the rough processing of tree bark, collectively selling over 700 tons in 2023. Each processor earned no less than 200,000 yuan. Approximately 80 people were involved in the sales, each earning an extra income of over 8,000 yuan.
