China’s BYD unveils super e-platform with MW charger
China’s electric vehicle maker BYD rolled out a super e-platform on March 17, featuring flash-charging batteries, a 30,000 RPM motor, and new silicon carbide (SiC) power chips.

The platform is supported by ultra-high voltage (1000V) and ultra-high current (1000A).
The platform upgrades the core electric components, achieving a charging power of 1 megawatt (MW) and a peak charging speed of 2 kilometers per second, making it the fastest for mass-produced vehicles - 5 minutes of charging for 400 kilometers of range.
With the support of ultra-high voltage (1000V) and ultra-high current (1000A), BYD "Flash Charging Battery" can achieve the world's largest mass-produced charging power of 1 megawatt, or 1000kW.
The Megawatt Flash Charging enables the world's highest peak charging speed of "1 second for 2 kilometers". The Han LEV equipped with the Flash Charging Battery can achieve 400 kilometers of range with just 5 minutes of charging.
In the past, refueling a gasoline car took 5-8 minutes; now, for the same range, electric vehicles also take only 5-8 minutes to charge, ultimately making the charging time as short as refueling time.
Luo Hongbin, BYD's Senior Vice President, speaks at the event.
At this launch event, BYD also unveiled the world's first mass-produced 30,000 RPM motor.
"The 30,000 RPM motor not only significantly boosts the vehicle's speed but also greatly reduces the motor's weight and size, enhancing power density,” said Luo Hongbin, BYD's Senior Vice President.
To match the ultra-high power charging, BYD has self-developed and mass-produced the next-generation automotive-grade SiC power chips.
These chips have a voltage rating of up to 1500V, making them the industry's first mass-produced automotive-grade SiC power chips with the highest voltage rating.
As the first models to feature BYD's Super e-Platform, the Han and Tang LEVs have officially started pre-sales in China. BYD’s Super e-Platform will lead the development trend of pure electric technology worldwide.
