Int'l visitors impressed by opening for water festival

A group of international communicators from the Mekong countries, as well as those from the US and Russia, visited south Yunnan’s Xishuangbanna during the just-concluded 2024 Water-splashing Festival.

During the visit, they were particularly impressed by a grand opening for the water festival on April 13, either singing in impromptu or sharing their thoughts with their friends online. The opening featured a dragon-boat race, a firework show and a cultural performance.

Tens of thousands of tourists and residents gathered on banks of the Lancang River section, upper reach of the Mekong River, in Xishuangbanna prefecture for the water festival, or the 1386 New Year on Dai calendar.
