International beauty brands open online stores in China
From cross-border e-commerce platforms to major international consumer goods exhibitions, international beauty products and brands are accelerating their entry into the Chinese market. Many more products are getting into Chinese consumers' shopping carts for sure.
Data shows that from January to March this year, the number of international beauty brands on Tmall Global increased by 55% compared to the same period last year.
Among them, the number of international beauty brands from Europe and South Korea grew the fastest, with European beauty brands increasing by 150% and South Korean brands by 56% year-on-year.
The beauty industry is gaining steam because of upgrade of consumption. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics of China, China's retail sales of cosmetics reached 414.2 billion yuan in 2023, an increase of 5.1% year-on-year.
