Quadrilateral drill on waterborne emergencies held in south Yunnan The "Guardian-2025" joint exercise for handling waterborne emergencies takes place on the Lancang-Mekong River's Jingha section on December 25.

The law enforcement departments of China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand conducted the "Guardian-2025" joint exercise for handling waterborne emergencies on the Lancang-Mekong River on December 25. The drill took place on the river’s Jingha section in south Yunnan’s Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture.

The exercise aimed to enhance the practical capabilities of the four countries’ law enforcement departments in jointly handling emergencies, while deepening the quadrilateral cooperation in law enforcement. A total of 121 law-enforcing officers and 10 ships from the four countries participated in the drill.

Since the launch of the "Guardian" exercises by the law-enforcing departments of the four countries in 2017, nine joint drills have been conducted on the international river, focusing on drug control, counter-terrorism, cross-border crimes, and waterborne emergencies.
