Dali seaweed flowers find way to dinner tables

About a decade ago, the Dali seaweed flower was a nationally protected plant. Extremely delicate, the edible flower could only live in high-transparency water with low yields, and its shelf life of only 2-3 days makes it hard for tourists take it home. As a result, the special flower can only be eaten in Dalli.

Nowadays, seaweed flowers can be planted in contiguous fields near the Erhai Lake, with a cultivated area of 100 hectares. With technological preservation techniques, its shelf life has been extended to 12 days, allowing this delicacy from Yunnan to make its way to the dining tables of citizens in Beijing, Shanghai, and other cities nationwide.
