Chinese seal engraving wows Nepalese guests in Hangzhou

Recently, Li Yan, a member of the Hangzhou Xiling Seal Art Society, hosted a reception at the Huajiashan Resort, for the Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and his delegation who were visiting Hangzhou, capital of east China’s Zhejiang province and the host city of 19th Asian Games.

Li introduced the delegation to the traditional Chinese art of seal engraving, presenting them with the “Together in Love, Together in Harmony” engraved seal and an inscription that reads "Unchanging Original Aspiration”.

Calligraphy and seal engraving are two unique handicrafts in traditional Chinese art, each with a long history and profound cultural significance. Calligraphy, an art of Chinese characters, conveys beauty through stroke combinations and variations, expressing Chinese aesthetic concepts. Seal engraving involves carving characters or patterns onto a seal's surface, creating a distinctive artistic form.
