Hanfu becomes mass fashion during super golden holiday

During the just passed Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Holiday of 8 days, many scenic spots attracted thousands of tourists wearing hanfu, the traditional costume of the Han people in China. Following the growing heat of hanfu, makeup designers are getting popular as well.

The holiday brings makeup designers a busy time. From 7 o’clock am, with half an hour’s designing and making up for each customer, the designers can’t take a break.

Many places even became great hits because of hanfu or the local customs. Qingyan ancient town of Guiyang city, the capital of Guizhou province, is one of them. Xiaoye, a local hanfu makeup designer of a local store said that they worked from 9:30 to 22:00 during the holiday.

Designer Daxia in Beijing also an individual photographer also had a very busy time. “I got a wide range of customers. They can be students, office workers, and moms with kids. Even the elder ones of 50 to 60 years old,” said Daxia. “And I feel like there’s great potential of this job as more and more people start to love hanfu.”

Xi’an in Shaanxi province used to be a capital city for 13 dynasties. It now has the largest number of Hanfu stores in China. Thus, the designers were extremely busy during the holiday.

Xiyao, a designer of the Grand Tang Mall, said that they had 12 designers ready for at least 10 customers each morning.
