Thailand exports most of its $4 billion durian to Chinese market

Thailand's durian exports reached $4 billion, accounting for nearly 10% of its total agricultural exports. Notably, around $3.9 billion worth of durians were directed towards the Chinese market, indicating that China takes almost Thailand's entire durian export for the first 11 months of the previous year.

According to recent reports by Global Times, China emerged as the top export destination for Thai agricultural products in the first 11 months of 2023 based on Thai customs data. The cumulative amount reached 11.14 billion dollars, marking an 18.3% year-on-year increase and constituting approximately 26.5% of Thailand's overall agricultural exports. This substantial lead is significantly ahead of Japan (10.3%), ranking second, and the United States (8.7%), in third place.
