The suggestions proposed raise attention
Hidden overtime, PE class, dog bites and minors playing online games are issues that evoke heated discussion among all. The suggestions proposed by deputies and members of the Two Sessions raise attention.
Let’s take a look!
Working offline, are you still struggling around the clock?
With the development of the internet and the powerful apps for social networking, people may still have to deal with online tasks after work, which is known as hidden overtime. In response, National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) member Lv Guoquan proposed to enshrine into law the right to offline rest.
Besides strong support in the comment section, there is also a wave of nostalgia like 'I miss the old days without smartphones, when disturbance after work was impossible.'
Since overtime is unavoidable now, some netizens suggested that companies should adopt mandatory overtime pay, which would better optimize the cost-effectiveness of their work.
Will daily PE classes make pupils happier?
For the health of young people, National People's Congress (NPC) deputy Wang Xu proposed that primary and secondary schools should offer one PE class every day. Netizens said that the quantity of PE classes is important, and so is the quality.
Concerned about the burden on children, some suggested that PE classes should be diversified to reduce the pressure from exams.
Working adults, eyeing on the suggestion, expressed their eagerness that they should even be required to exercise for one hour every day.
Regarding the topic of "physical education and health," Yang Yang, a former Olympic champion in short track speed skating and a member of the CPPCC, stated that student physical activities should not be squeezed out for any reason.
She also suggested that an hour of exercise daily should be included in school leadership performance assessments. Netizens hoped that school leaders could respond positively to these suggestions.
If someone is bitten, will it be fault of the dog only?
Due to the increasing attention on dog attacks in recent years, NPC deputy Tuo Qingming suggested that the criminal responsibility of dogs biting people should be included in the amendment to the Criminal Law. Netizens overwhelmingly supported this proposal, of course.
One netizen’s comment received many likes. He said that he was a dog owner and has always supported the idea of dogs being leashed or muzzled when outdoors. Because owning a dog is their hobby, it shouldn't negatively affect others. Other netizens praised those responsible dog owners and expressed their commitment to being responsible pet owners themselves.
Do you support the ban on minors playing online games?
CPPCC member Hong Mingji not only suggested regulating the gaming time of college students but also a complete ban on minors under 18 from playing online games. With addicting reminders only, children cannot be kept away from games.
This reminded some adults of their extra work, and they suggested that an anti-addiction mechanism during working hours must be set forth, and one should only work for 8 hours a day. This comment received over ten thousand likes.
Returning to the topic, some netizens said some children are using the seniors’ IDs to play games, so there should also be restrictions on gaming time for those aged 60 and above.
Another netizen believed more guidance to kids is needed. After all, even his 70-year-old father reads novels and watches videos online.
Some smart netizens thought that gaming addiction is not limited by age or ID registration. So, they proposed adding a facial recognition to games.
Many netizens also believed that children should return to real-life activities to shift their focus away from the virtual world, but to achieve this, parents and families should play a major role.
Any better suggestions for the issues above?
