Suggestions worth pondering
The 2024 Two Sessions have concluded, and upon reviewing the suggestions put forth by deputies and members, many issues closely related to our daily life are still worth pondering.
Will you support an increase in rural pension?
National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) member Lian Yuming proposed a significant increase in rural pension standards, suggesting a nationwide unified increase by at least 100 yuan per person per month on the existing basis. In response, netizens in the comments section expressed support, saying that this member deserves full respect from the public.
Others suggested that 100 yuan is too little and recommended an increase of over 500 yuan or adjusting the amount based on the development status of the city. They also emphasized the fundamental importance of farmers and agriculture to the whole country.
What would you like to learn if school teaches on cultural heritages?
CPPCC member Tian Jing, also a representative inheritor of the purple pottery-making technique in south Yunnan’s Jianshui county, suggested incorporating intangible cultural heritage into aesthetic education and inheritors should bring more heritages into schools.
In response, netizens hoped that more young people should inherit excellent culture and strengthen cultural confidence.
Some junior foodies even suggested that river snail noodles, roast duck and flower cakes all should be intangible cultural heritage taught in classes. Then, there is no need to sneak snacks.
Is it necessary to have two free changes over a train ticket?
National People’s Congress deputy Zheng Yueming proposed increasing the number of free train ticket changes from one to two.
He suggested reducing the ticket refund rate to 5% if the train is to leave within 24 hours, and full refund should be done if it is requested more than 24 hours in advance.
In response, most netizens expressed support. Some commented that the timing of the suggestion was impeccable, as they had just been charged.
Some even went as far as to liken purchasing plane tickets to investing in stocks due to sharp fluctuation of price. They believed that the same suggestion on refunds and changes should be applicable to plane ticketing.
Suggestions are always on the way. What’s yours?
