Munao Zongge festival takes place in Kunming

A special event celebrating the Munao Zongge Festival was held on March 16 in central Yunnan’s Kunming, gathering the Jingpo and other ethnic folks who either work, study or just live in the spring city.

A special event celebrating the Munao Zongge Festival is held on March 16 in central Yunnan’s Kunming city.

Munao Zonge means “dancing together” in the Jingpo language and it mostly takes place in west Yunnan’s Dehong prefecture. Listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2006, the pageant serves as a window to showcase the Jingpo people’s history, culture, and art.

The Jingpo group dance in Kunming featured soothing music, and it was followed by a special feast outdoors.
