Wang Yubo welcomed Burns and briefed on the Yunnan achievements in economic and social development. He said that Yunnan and the United States have a long history of exchanges.
“In the 1940s, we forged a deep "flying-tiger love" in the joint fight against fascist aggression, and in recent years, we’ve achieved positive results in multi-field cooperation,” said Wang.
Noting the important consensuses reached by the heads of state of China and the United States in 2023 in San Francisco, Wang hoped the ambassador's visit could boost people-to-people exchanges, economic cooperation and bilateral trade investment, contributing to stable, healthy and sustainable China-US relations.

Nicholas Burns agreed on Wang Yubo's proposal for cooperation, saying that he was greatly impressed by Yunnan's natural scenery and ethnic culture.
The touching story of the Flying Tigers is worth telling and remembering by the American and Chinese peoples, added the ambassador.
Burns hoped to further communicate and cooperate with Yunnan for new achievements in economy, trade, agriculture, tourism, biodiversity protection, and exchange of students among universities.
