Cultural tourist activities enrich summer life
May 19th is China Tourism Day, and various regions across the country are bustling with attractive cultural and tourism activities.
In recent years, Hainan province has integrated sports with the tourism industry. Water activities such as diving, surfing, sailing, and windsurfing have become increasingly popular. Moreover, this May, Hainan launched 286 activities both offline and online to celebrate China Tourism Day.
Chen Tiejun, director of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports of Hainan Province, introduced that Hainan has launched three major promotional events, including a full calendar of festivals and competitions, to create the most appealing travel experiences in Hainan this summer.
As China Tourism Day approaches, the Xilin Gol Grassland in Inner Mongolia has introduced more than 30 tourism products, such as horse riding and self-driving, to ensure visitors have a comfortable and satisfactory experience. To date, the number of tourists in Xilin Gol has increased by 25% compared to last year, signaling an early arrival of the peak tourism season.
On May 19th, the Central Asia Park in Xi'an, northwest China's Shaanxi province, started operation. The park features sculptures such as "Silk Road Camel Bells" and "Nine Steeds of Chang'an," symbolizing the shared development vision between China and Central Asian countries. Central Asia Park's main entrance is a Silk Road Reception Room displaying gifts from central Asian countries to Xi'an, such as traditional Kazakh costumes, a Kyrgyz "archery" sculpture, and local specialties like honey and chocolate. The Central Asia Park offers visitors a platform to learn about the history and culture of Central Asian countries.
A unique highland football league kicked off on May 18 in Xining city, northwest China's Qinghai province. Eight teams across the province will compete in the league over the next five months.
Notably, most players are farmers, herders, and employees of agriculture-related enterprises. The teams are named after local specialties, such as the Haidong Qinghai Noodles Team, the Haibei Qilian Mountain Sheep Team, and the Haixi Qaidam Goji Team.
The best player of each match will receive a whole sheep as a prize. This kind of highland football tournament has become a unique approach for Qinghai to boost agriculture, revitalizing rural areas and improving local life.
