4th Yunnan-Vietnam meeting takes place in Kunming

The 4th annual meeting between Yunnan and Vietnamese provinces of Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Lai Chau and Dien Bien is held in central Yunnan’s Kunming city on June 12.

The 4th meeting of annual conference between Secretaries of Provincial Party Committees of China’s Yunnan province and Vietnam’s Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Ha Giang and Lao Cai provinces took place in Kunming, Yunnan’s provincial capital on June 12.

Wang Ning, Secretary of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee, said that the province is willing to work with its counterparts in Vietnam to promote the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam, strengthen cooperation in various areas, while achieving the win-win results by following the spirit of China-Vietnam Joint Statement.

He suggested that the 5 provinces from two sides should work closely with each other to enhance friendship and mutual trust, deepen communication on policy-making and industrial development, and strength exchanges at all levels as well as in all fields.

Wang Ning also stressed the importance of strengthening connectivity by accelerating the construction of several key projects which will level-up the efficiency of logistics and transportation of the region.

In addition, the two sides should work together to deepen economic and trade cooperation, and extend common interests. Green agriculture, green energy, as well as the construction of border industrial parks and development of port economy will bring new prospects to both Yunnan and Vietnam.

Besides, Yunnan looks forward to expand people-to-people exchange with Vietnam, as it is a key to the bilateral relationship. The cooperation on areas such as technology, education, cultural exchange, health as well as cross-border tourism will encourage the young generation from the two countries to understand each other better.

In order to maintain the peace and better conserve the natural environment of the border area, security cooperation between Yunnan and the 4 provinces from Vietnam should also be strengthened.

Secretaries of the 5 Provincial Party Committees jointly signed the meeting summary. They also witnessed the signings of other cooperation agreements.
