130,000 pages of ancient books in Yunnan revitalized

According to the latest statistics from the Yunnan Ancient Books Protection Center, nearly 130,000 leaves of precious ancient books in the province have been revitalized through rescue protection efforts.

This includes 1,940 volumes of ancient books of Han Dynasty (202BC-220) comprising 108,813 leaves, 284 volumes of Yi (the language of Yi people) script ancient books comprising 15,182 leaves, 2,882 leaves of Tibetan script ancient books, 34 volumes of Dai script ancient books comprising 970 leaves, and 40 volumes of Dongba (the language of Naxi people) script ancient books comprising 491 leaves.

Yan Yanping, Director of the Historical Documents Department of the Yunnan Provincial Library, reported that the restoration work has been completed for several precious ancient texts, including 28 volumes of Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) printed editions, Yi script ancient books, Dai (the language of Dai people) script ancient books, and Dongba script ancient books. Many of these ancient books had suffered extensive damage over time, including insect infestation, mold, and severe deterioration.
