Wingsuit man achieves high-speed flight in Yunnan

23-year-old Chinese wingsuit flying man Zhang Xiyuan recently completed a high-difficulty trial flight at the Dashanbao Wingsuit Flying Base in northeast’s Yunnan Zhaotong city.

After jumping and accelerating, Zhang made a 270-degree turn in mid-air, diving into the canyon with a maximum flight speed of 245 km/h, coming as close as about 1 meter to the mountain.

Native to Guizhou province, Zhang started learning skydiving in 2020. To date, he has completed 1,600 high-altitude jumps and over 200 low-altitude jumps.

The Wingsuit Flying Challenge event is scheduled to be held at Dashanbao town in Zhaotong from July 19 to July 21, 2024.
