Avocados in Menglian become a major industry

Nowadays, the avocado planting area in Menglian Dai Lahu and Wa autonomous county, southwest Yunnan, has reached 12.07 million mu (about 8046.67 ha), making it the largest avocado cultivation base in China.

Since last year, 37,000 people in the county have benefited from avocados, with farmers receiving dividends of 7,000 yuan per mu after production. The collective income of 39 villages has exceeded 200,000 yuan, with the highest reaching 849,700 yuan.

By the end of September this year, a large number of Menglian avocados will mature, with an estimated fresh fruit production of 19,500 tons.
