Yunnan to deepen multiple cooperation with Fiji
“The mutually beneficial cooperation between Yunnan and Fiji is in the ascendant. We are willing to further people-to-people exchanges with Fiji and deepen cooperation in the fields of investment and trade, poverty alleviation, green development, distinct agriculture, cultural tourism, education and sports, and social governance,” said Yunnan governor Wang Yubo.

Wang said this in central Yunnan’s Kunming city at a meeting with visiting Fijian prime minister Sitiveni Rabuka on August 14, and he added that under the guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Yunnan has won the battle against poverty, writing a glorious chapter in the history of human poverty reduction.
At present, Yunnan is implementing the resolution of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, practicing the Chinese-path to modernization in accordance with Yunnan’s specific conditions, expanding high-level opening up, and promoting high-quality international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Sitiveni Rabuka spoke highly of Yunnan's achievements in development under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, and appreciated Yunnan's provincial efforts for friendly exchanges between Fiji and China.
Adoring the China-proposed initiatives for global development, global security and global civilization, Rabuka hoped to strengthen communication and deepen cooperation with Yunnan in climate change, poverty reduction, social governance, and higher education.
During his stay in Yunnan, Rabuka visited the Malipo county of Wenshan Zhuang and Miao autonomous prefecture that lies in the southeast of the province, looking into local experience and practices in poverty alleviation, rural revitalization and industrial development.
