Yunnan photovoltaic industries await investors

A 50 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic project lies in Jinggu, southwest Yunnan's Pu'er city.

The 2023 China Industrial Transfer and Development Matchmaking Activities (Yunnan) will be held in central Yunnan’s Kunming city from September 7 to 8, and it’s time to have a review of the photovoltaic industries in the province.

Among Chinese provinces, Yunnan is a top producer in industrial and monocrystalline silicon.

In 2022, Yunnan province set the goal of being Chinese capital of photovoltaics, formulating policies and measures to bolster the industrial chains and explore the international market.

The first photovoltaic-glass production line of Yunnan province is put into operation in northeast Yunnan’s Zhaotong city on June 16.

Given the industrial foundation and resource advantages, Yunnan takes Qujing as its core area of photovoltaics production, with satellite hubs being Baoshan, Chuxiong, Lijiang and Zhaotong.

In 2023, the province's photovoltaic industry achieved an output value of 109.4 billion yuan, with an added value of 36.7%.

Leading photovoltaic enterprises such as LONGi Green Energy, Tongwei Solar, Jinko Solar and others have settled in Yunnan, with their production capacity expanded.
